About the Coffee:

This is our third year featuring coffee from the Kanzu Washing Station! These microlots from the Karambi Community highlight the hard work and dedication of the smallholder producers in the region.

Kanzu’s coffee comes from the Nyamasheke growing region in South Central Lake Kivu. This community is located high up in the mountains at 2000 masl and surrounded by lush forest mountainsides, creating a unique microclimate slows cherry maturation and protects the coffee from climate extremes.

At the washing station the cherries are floated and sorted to remove unripe cherries and any potential insect damage. The cherries are continually sorted throughout the pulping, pre-drying, and drying stages to ensure even quality and consistency.
