Gegarang, Indonesia

Indonesian coffee is known for its uncommon and even surprising flavor notes.  This coffee from the remote community of Gegarang in Aceh, Sumatra, is no exception to this rule, and it brews an exceptional cup.

Notes of orange and green herbs greet you first, while caramel smooths over and leads to a lasting finish.

This one is especially fun to play with on manual brew methods.

About the beans:  They are grown under the shade of leguminous trees, in the moist air of a basin surrounded by mountains. Small-producing farmers work with local collectors to create lots ready for export.
